EDITORIAL INFATUATION: VOGUE CHINA OCTOBER 2010/MARIE CLAIRE ITALY SEPTEMBER 2010

I think I should invest my money in foreign editions of the many fashion magazines that we have here in the good Old U.S of A.  I'm loving what they are doing in these editorials overseas.  (The following Pictures are from one of my favorite sites: fashioncopious)

RUNWAY2YOURWAY: CAPE CRUSADER

This season the CAPE has taken "flight" onto the runways from YSL to 3.1 Phillip Lim.  With its updated touches, the CAPE is redolent of little red riding taking a detour to New York City to have lunch  with Anna Wintour and the Vogue gang on Sixth Avenue.   This trend is for the woman who likes to take fashion risk and has the ability to transition this fall must into their fashion forward packed closets.  HATE IT OR LOVE IT the CAPE is definitely not your typical superhero uniform?    Below is the Runway inspirations:

3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2010

GET THE LOOK FOR LESS:

LADIES if you want to dabble into this runway trend and don't have the necessary funds for the designer price tag, then here are some cost-effective options.

ASOS Cape: $117.95

Topshop Cape: $110.00
Zara Cape: $169.00
Zara Print Cape: $129.00

WORD TO THE WISE-TIPS on Wearing:

-Ladies be very wary of trying this trend,  The Cape isn't for all body types.  The cape brings more a voluminous silhouette, which can make one look bigger or swallowed up depending how curvy or short you are.  IMO (in my opinion),  I say try it on and judge for yourself if looks great or just plain awkward.

-When trying to find the right CAPE, one must try to find in a heavy material like wool blend, tweed, or heavy cotton.  As for the tone go for like nude, camel, charcoal gray, plaid, navy, army green, black and even I dare say Leopard.

SIDE-NOTE: Yes, Leopard is a neutral IMO,  the rule with this is 1AAT=(one at a time).  This is something you must be cautious with.  Head to toe leopard is just a plain no-no. 1 piece of leopard limit zone= Excellent

-The Cape is great for transitioning from day to night in the fall season.  Whether you wear it over jeans with riding boots to black tights, pumps, and that perfect LBD=(little black dress).

Nothing says chic like a women covered in confidence and that perfect cape in tote.

ARCHIVE THIS: LANVIN MEN's FALL 2007

A few days back I was thinking of a few runway collections that just impacted me as a fashion advocate.   I thought about one of my favorite fashion houses Lanvin, back in 2007 I remember seeing their men's collection  for Fall and literally had that chill down the spin sensation.   I felt as if Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver were in my head and decided to design a collection that I have always dreamed about having in my closet.  I love the classic touches of  neutrals with pops of colors to styling the outfits with a pair of fresh SNEAKS to give the collection a laid back feel.  (Dressy yet Casual, Sherlock Holmes meets Rat Pack meets the Streets)  If I could have any collection to put in my closet in its entirety it would be this collection.  Below is  a few of my favorites from the 2007 show (PHOTOS FROM GQ.com):

RUNWAY EDITION PART DEUX: SPRING 2011

With the muted neutral tones being rocked down the runways for the few past few days, there is finally light at the end of the color spectrum tunnel with hues so colorful it makes the rainbow look dull.  A few of the designers that have being dabbling in colors and prints includes Marc Jacobs, Rachel Roy, Ports 1961, and a few other talents.

Might I say in the words of Rachel Zoe, Marc Jacobs is "Literally, SHUTTING IT DOOOWNNN!!!" From his original line Marc Jacobs to Marc by Marc Jacobs.  Mr. Jacobs has deviated from his 1950's silhouette of Louis Vuitton for one of my favorite fashion decades, the 1970's as a reference point for his Spring 2011 collections.  The collections is reminiscent of the movie "Mahogany" a la Ms. Diana Ross to the Glamourous days of Studio 54 a la Bianca Jagger and the Disco Crew.  IMO (In my opinion) Marc's S/S 2011 collections is probably if not the best, one of the best collections for this coming spring season.

For the Color spectrum on the colorful side of things,   I'm seeing alot of ceruleans, blueberries, fuschias, cranberries, cerises, oranges and anything in between.  At the same time they hold this muted quality in their shades.  I love it!!!!

If you want to know what the print is of the season, its all about STRIPES.  Whether it is on pants, skirts, dresses, etc.

Below is Photos from the collections that are rocking away from the neutral tone bandwagon (Side-note: But I still love the neutrals)  Photos from Elle.com:
